Ahhhhhhhhh, dpns! :)

I am over my hatred for dpns. I can do it now! It took a bit of getting used to what with having twice the normal amount of needles in your hands, but I have succeeded. Here, in all it's glory.....Le Slouch!

I love this hat, I really really do. It's so warm and comfortable, and actually looks quite cute on me! Yay for un-silly hats. I wore it today and lots of people in my lectures said they liked it, I was pleased! And were impressed that I knitted it, mwa ha ha.

Slouch only ended up using two of my three balls of Alpaca Silk, so I needed something to do with the rest.... so today, I cast on Fetching from Knitty, because hey it can only look cuter with matching gloves! I've finished one glove (in a day! I don't know what's come over me but I really need to stop knitting so fast, I need the money for other things - like food!), and here it is:

Woo more dpn-ing! I love how this has come out as well, my only fear is that I won't have quite enough yarn to finish the second one. Oh well, I will find out tomorrow! Hopefully I can get the second one done tomorrow after lectures, then I can go to Asda with matching hat and gloves and be oh so cool!

I need to tidy my room, tomorrow is cleaning day for meeee. I might get up early and do it then instead though. Ha I'm so lazy. Plus that means I can cast on Fetching #2 tonight!

I am also going to do some situps....unimpressed with the wobbly stomach-ness!

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH dpns :(

So, yesterday I found the yarn shop in Putney. It's AMAZING. So many beautiful yarns! Expensive for moi le student though, so I'll have to not go there too often, it's too tempting! I did get some Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk to make Le Slouch though, and also some DPNs.

Ahhhh those DPNs! This is my first time attempting to use them, and they've been driving me crazy all morning! Stitches keep falling off, mysterious loose yarn for no reason....I think (touch wood) I'm starting to get the hang of it a little now though.

Here is the beautiful yarn:

Oo and yesterday morning, I made a Calorimetry! Sooooo quick to knit!

I think I shall make more of these in different colours, I like it!

Anyhow.....I shall now go battle with the dpns some more. Possibly there will be progress pictures later, if I don't snap them in half in frustration!

Piiiiictures!

Here it is! The blue sweater is done..... as you can see, it isn't a cowl neck any more - not enough yarn! - but I love it all the same.

This is the stitch pattern on the edgings (and cute buttons)....

I love it very very much!

So near yet so tired...

Ok, it's twenty five to three in the morning and I am still up sewing up my sweater......in my defence, I only got in from Fez about an hour or so ago though. Still.

I'm too tired to post pictures now and anyway it isn't QUITE finished, but I'll put some up tomorrow. And in the meantime, I will say......

I. AM. IN. LOVE. WITH. THIS. SWEATER.

It is so goddamn cute! I'm going to wear it everyday! Best thing I've ever made!

Now wait for the pictures :P

Tuesday 2 October 2007

Long time no blog....

I'M IN ON RAVELRY! Finally! Very exciting stuff, I think this afternoon will be mainly spent playing around on it.

I'm also at uni now! Which means not much time for knitting. Uni is amazing though, I love it so much. Lots of dancing and partying, it's so much fun!

Although there hasn't been much time for knitting, the blue sweater is nearly done, although I'm running out of dark blue so the neck might not turn out quite how I want it. I've just got that and the rest of one sleeve and the sewing up to do and then it's done! And then I'll have nothing to knit because all my stash is at home, but luckily I've seen an interesting looking yarn shop in Putney, so I'll have to investigate!

Anyway, back to Ravelry!

Sweater progess and new yarn!

Matt bought me a present:

This is a truly dreadful picture, so sorry about that! But the yarn is gorgeous, it's 10 balls of Rowan Classic Soft Lux in Mist, and it's really soft and beautiful. It's got a metallic thread in it as well, you can't really tell that from the picture though. I'm not sure what I'm going to knit with it yet, but I'll think about that more when I've finished this.....

....the blue sweater! This is also going well, I've finished knitting the body so now it's on to the sleeves. I really want to get this done by Sunday because then I'm off to uni, but we'll see. It does have a scoop neck, you can't see it at all in the picture but it does.

I want in on Ravelry! Really really bad....I'm 8867th on the list, which isn't tooo bad but is nowhere near close enough! I'll probably get on sometime at uni now, which is bad (or maybe good?) because I won't be here to waste away hours on it.

Saturday 8 September 2007

No Seams for me!!

Actually there will be a few seams. But not the horrible long up-the-sides ones, which makes me very happy! Hooray for knitting in the round. This is the bottom of my new made up jumper, I love how it's coming out so far, especially the button bands because I worked out how to do them all by myself! I've got some nice blue buttons to go there, and six smaller ones for the sleeves when I get that far. The solid blue is the Debbie Bliss Merino, the speckled is courtelle...I know I know, it's probably sacrilege to use those two in the same project but I'm too poor to be a yarn snob and the debbie bliss was on sale! Anyway, it's going to have the same deep ribbing and buttons on the cuffs and a cowl neck, both done in the solid blue. I think it will be pretty!

Here is the finished accidental scarf:

I love it so much! It's really pretty and really warm, now I just need to wait for it to get nice and cold so I can wear it all the time.

I GOT AN A IN MY MODERN EXAM!!!!! I was so amazingly happy, I got 87 out of 100 with two 10s! For my dance and dance performance!

I start uni a week tomorrow, which is a tiny bit scary but mostly exciting. I want to finish knitting the blue sweater before that if I can, because it's going to be manic in fresher's and I won't have time for knitting!

Sunday 2 September 2007

Knitting with a hangover = surprisingly productive!

First things first.....

Found you!
  • You signed up on July 28, 2007
  • You are #21240 on the list.
  • 9998 people are ahead of you in line.
  • 9141 people are behind you in line.
  • 36% of the list has been invited so far
I'm getting so close on the Ravelry invite line! Well actually, not close at all but hey, it's under 10000 now!

I went out last night and drank a little too much pear cider. I feel a bit icky today, but for some reason it's making me really motivated to knit! So I'm hoping the snuggly scarf will be finished by tonight, in which case I'll probably post again with pictures. And then start swatching......(duh duh DUH!)......

My beautiful Debbie Bliss merino aran! £1.50 a ball, got to love sales at the yarn shop.

I need to do some ballet practise as well today. I'm feeling quite disillusioned about ballet at the moment, it seems so unfair that you can work as hard as you can but you'll always be struggling against your weak ankles and wrongly shaped legs...oh well, I will persevere.

Saturday 1 September 2007

Scarf-y goodness

Look at this beauty!

The colour isn't really like that, it's more of a greeny turquoise-y colour, but you get the idea. And I love how the cables are coming out! They make it really cosy as well because of how much they bulk it up. I've got about six inches or so left to do, then it'll be done, just in time for autumn. And then I can start knitting my stripy buttony idea!

Monday 27 August 2007

Too much to knit, too little time....

I am in love with Clockhouse. Look....

This is also gorgeous....

I feel a knock-off or three coming over me!

I promise there will be scarf pictures soon. The camera is misbehaving. It's getting quite long though, I've nearly used one ball of yarn.

Sunday 26 August 2007

Beautiful Things...

I'm knitting an accidental scarf. I say accidental, because this yarn was never meant to be a scarf at all. I bought it to be contrast ribbing on a cowl neck sweater, but unfortunately the day I went yarn shopping I forgot my swatch. This led to the colours being completely warped in my mind in the shop, so although I have a beautiful greeny-blue chunky courtelle it doesn't go at all with the rest of the sweater. It'll make a lovely scarf though. It's also accidental, because I was going to do a common-or-garden cable along the centre, but got distracted and put stitches at the back when they should have been at the front. I couldn't face frogging it and I think it actually looks nicer, so it's like that now! I will put up pictures next time I post, it's pretty though.

Vague Instructions for Black Sweater!

Right, I'm going to try and write down as much as I can remember of how I made this. It's knit in 100% double knitting wool on 4mm needles.

This fits me, I have a 36inch chest and 28inch waist.
Gauge: 20sts x 30 rows makes 4 inches square in stocking stitch (when blocked)

Front:
CO 90 sts
Work 2 inches in K2-P2 rib
Work in stocking stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at either end every 9th row, until 70sts remain.
Work in stocking stitch, increasing 1 stitch at either end of every 9th row, until there are 90sts.
Work 2 inches in stocking stitch, ending with a purl row.

Armhole Shaping:
I used the same armhole shaping as Knitty's Dragonfly in the smallest size (the eight rows after the subheading "Shape Armholes" for the front). You should end up with 72 stitches.

Work 5 rows stocking stitch.

Next row: Sl1, p35. Join a second ball of wool and p to the end of the row.

The neckline shaping is now formed in the same way as Knitty's Dragonfly, but with two sets of 36 stitches instead of 24.
Work the first four rows shown under the subheading "Neckline and Armhole Shaping" four times. 16sts remain on each half.
Then work the next 4 rows twice. 6sts remain on each half.
Work the following two rows twice, leaving 2 sts on each side, and then work the final row.

Back:
CO 90sts.

Armhole Shaping
Again, this should be worked as shown in Knitty's Dragonfly. Work the 8 rows after the subheading "Shape Armholes" for the back in the smallest size. You should end up with 72 stitches.

Work 4 rows stocking stitch.

Work Decrease Row as shown in pattern.
Work 3 rows stocking stitch.
Repeat these four rows 3 times more.

Work Decrease Row once more, and then P one row. 64sts.

Work Decrease Row.
Next Row: Sl 1, p2tog tbl, p to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1.
Repeat these two rows 3 more times. 48sts.

Next Row [RS]: Sl 1, k2tog, k11, BO next 20sts, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.

Next Row [WS]: BO first 13 sts. Break yarn, draw through last st of left shoulder and pull tight.

Reattach yarn to sts of right shoulder with WS facing and BO remaining 13 sts.

Sleeves (make 2):
CO 46sts
Work 2 inches in K2-P2 rib.
Next Row [WS]: P23, m1, p to end.
Work 2 rows stocking stitch.

Right, this is where I started doing the Catherine Wheel pattern. You can find it in this book, or otherwise you could use any other lace panel that takes your fancy. I worked 10 repeats of the Catherine Wheel along each sleeve, there are 16 rows in each repeat. Each Catherine Wheel is worked over 13sts.

As well as working the Catherine Wheel pattern, I worked the sleeve shaping at the same time like this:

Work in pattern until sleeve measures 10inches from CO edge.
Next Row [RS]: K1, kfb, continue in pattern to last 2 stitches, kfb, k1.
Work 3 rows stocking stitch.

Repeat these four rows 4 more times. 57sts.

Continue in pattern until work measures 18inches.

Work sleeve cap shaping as shown in Knitty's Dragonfly, but with amendments:

Work the first 8 rows as shown for the smallest size. 39sts remain.
Work 3 rows of stocking stitch and then the decrease row; repeat these four rows 5 more times. 27sts remain.
Work 1 row of stocking stitch and then the decrease row; repeat these two rows 2 more times. 21sts remain.
2 rows st st.
Cast off remaining stitches.

Block all pieces and sew together.

Hope that helps somebody, there might be errors because I didn't write it down as I went along so that's all out of my memory! But if you have any questions I'll try to help.

The Black Sweater is Finished!!!

Finally, it is done! The sleeves took forever, mainly because I never did much at a time....but I love it, I love it so much! I've worn it the last two evenings when it got cold and it's so warm and cosy. And it's flattering, it isn't huge and shapeless! I love it!

Here are the pictures:

Love how the sleeves came out, the circle pattern looks really pretty. And the neckline came out really well too, that was a bit of a gamble because I was making it in completely the wrong gauge, but it turned out well! I don't think I'll even crochet around it, I quite like it how it is. This is definately my new favourite jumper!

The seaming was a bitch though, I still haven't got the shoulders quite neat enough. So, my next project is to be knit in the round! And talking of which, this morning I have been knitting a swatch. Here it is, along with my not-so-impressive arch:

I'm in love with this yarn. The colours are so pretty! It's going to be a raglan sweater. After this though, I need to start knitting things for Matt's birthday, because it's in two and a half months and I'll be at uni (woo!) for one of them so probably won't have much time for knitting!

Tuesday 7 August 2007

Interesting Finds....

I have found in The Works KNITTING NEEDLES FOR 99p and YARN, TWO BALLS FOR 99p!!! The Works is my new favourite shop. They have all sorts of other exciting things too, like stickers and coloured feathers and beads, which I want to buy and hoard even though I have no idea what I would use them for.

Black Sweater will be finished soon. It will. Every day I think, I will finish Black Sweater today and then I can wear it tomorrow and be pretty, but it never happens. I have three and a half circle patterns left to do on the last sleeve, then block it, sew together and crochet around the neckline (maybe. I might just leave it, see what it looks like) and then it's done and I can knit more things!

I'm going to start getting things for Matt's birthday soon. I know what I'm doing and it'll be amazing but I'm not going to write it here because he's trying to find my blog and if he does he might read what he's getting! It's going to be good though!

Sunday 5 August 2007

So many beautiful things....

I went shopping. Look at this:

Yes yes, I'm still knitting something and I have more wool to knit other things after, but there was a sale! The blue is Courtelle, and will be a sweater for me. The gold is Wendy Melody and is going to be a scarf for my mum. For ages she's been asking me to knit her a scarf from 'that shiny wool' in the yarn shop, so it shall be done! That was me being restrained, I also want some dark red merino for a scarf, and something for at least two other sweaters.

I also went trawling the charity shops trying to find things to frog, but ended up getting distracted! I found a beautiful light purple lambswool and angora v-neck, which I think I'm going to keep as it is, it's lovely, I just think it makes my boobs look too big. The main find though was these:

These are Bloch dance trainers, brand new and in exactly my size. If I bought them new, I'd be at least £40 poorer.....I got them for £2.95. I can't believe it, they've never even been worn! So I can take them to uni with me, I'm really happy about this!

The black sweater is coming so slowly, in fairness though I haven't been knitting much. I went out last night, to a party and then the Buttermarket, so no knitting then. I saw Steph though, which was cool because I haven't seen her for ages. One sleeve is almost up to the armpit, the other I haven't started yet. I must get more done today! So now, I start knitting.....

Oh and in other news, it's finally got sunny and I have the worst cold in the world. Unimpressed!

Friday 3 August 2007

In Which Sleeves are made....

Here is half a sleeve:

I decided to go with an eyelet pattern, just to make it more interesting really. I like the effect! Those are actually complete circles, just the camera is doing something funky. That's sleeve one, it comes to just above the elbow so far, which is quite good progress seeing as I haven't been knitting much the last few days. I really want to get this finished though, I'm thinking of about three more things I want to knit every day, which is not so good!

We did a pub quiz last night, it was crazy fun. Our team (Frog Dancing wooo!) came last, but I won the raffle so I have a bottle of wine. We think it was incredibly biased though, the music round let us down because being about twenty years younger than most of the other competitiors, we weren't even born when the bands were around. Oh well, none of them knew what a prime number was!

Me and Matt also went to Waterworld the other day, which was amazing! I'm not going to get much knitting done in the next week I don't think, these next two weekends there are lots of parties happening, and we're going to paint a house in the week in between. So I'll try and finish the black sweater the next couple of days....whether that happens or not we shall see!

Monday 30 July 2007

Black Fitted Sweater: Work in Progress pictures

I finished the back! So of course I had to pin it together with the front and try it on, which in turn led to pictures. I'm so pleased with how it's going so far - I absolutely loathe baggy sweaters, if I'm wearing it then it must be fitted! - and this looks to be shaping up well. Believe it or not it's still based on Dragonfly from Knitty, you can't really tell though. All I've taken from there is the neckline and armhole shaping, I winged the main body. So, here goes!

Ah I'm so pleased with this, there's nothing worse than spending hour upon hour knitting something, and then when you try it on it doesn't fit how you wanted. So, now I'll be starting the sleeves. I was going to do them in plain stocking stitch again with rib edging, but now I'm not so sure for two reasons:

1) After the front and back I'm ever so bored of stocking stitch!
2) As I mentioned here, I have a book from the library with lots of amazing stitch patterns in which I'm itching to try out, so I might do something with eyelets or cables perhaps? Not sure if it'd be better than a basic sweater though. Hmmmm.

The Morning After the Night Before

So I went to Jen's last night. She decided we all had to go in fancy dress as a rock genre, so I was a goth:

Sexy! Anyway, we drank lots of drinks and played Guitar Hero, Star Trek Interactive Board Game (hell yes....trust me, it's amazing and I've never watched star trek in my life.... a klingon shouts at you from the tv and its got really crappy old school special effects.....love it) and Dead or Alive. A good time was had by all, sadly I feel awful today - brought on by a combination of too much alcohol and staying up until 4am. Oh well, did I mention I don't have to work?!

13718th in line for Ravelry...slowly but surely....

Here is current progress on black jumper by the way:

Rubbish picture, I blame webcam. When Matt comes round I might steal his digital camera and take better pictures. Actually his camera is probably already here, most of his stuff is, but in my semi-comatose state I'm not going to be searching for it right now! Anyway, as you can see the back is nearly done, I've just started the armhole shaping. I need to alter the neckline though, so I need to calculate a bit before I knit any more. That's my task for this morning.

Although I might have a little snooze first!

Sunday 29 July 2007

What Sunday mornings are made for...

I'm sitting in bed in my pyjamas, watching Black Books and knitting my jumper. Heavenly. I could get used to this no working lark!

The jumper is slow going at the moment, mainly because I'm surfing the internet too much and thus knitting a row about once every twenty minutes. Damn you, assorted knitting bloggers of cyberspace! This just adds to the pile up of things-I'm-going-to-knit-at-some-point-in-the-future....

I'm still 13952nd in the invite list on ravelry.com.....checking if its changed is my other new addiction.

Insomniacs Anonymous

It's 1.23am.....I think I should stop knitting now.......

Trouble in t' Shire...

Someone got stabbed in my town last night. I think. I was walking to work this morning, and when I got in to town one side of the road was closed with all tape over the pavement, and there were men in white overalls with face masks cleaning up a whole load of blood. And it was a lot....and then later, when I was fetching my lunch some people in the sandwich shop were talking and said someone got stabbed. Now, my town is not big - it's right by Wales in the middle of the country - and in the last year two prostitutes were murdered, a policeman was shot dead and someone was shot on the dancefloor at one of the clubs (we only have about two anyway). This seems to me to be quite a lot of serious crime for such a small place! It's quite scary really, I think I'm going to be a bit nervous going out now, knowing that some nutters out there take guns and knifes with them out on the town.

...I just looked on the news website, it said two men suffered serious lacerations in an attack early this morning, they're in hospital, so hopefully they'll be ok.

In other news:

Today was my last shift at work! This is what I mainly spent it doing...

Oh yes, more designs for knitting patterns. I wish I could knit as fast as I think of things I want to make, that's three sweaters there. I'm going to have to organise myself with some kind of folder system I think.

After work, I went for a finishing-work-celebration drink with Chrissy, which was cool, and then I watched some bands in the square with Jon in the rain! There was the son of the guy who did the 'My Old Man's A Dustman' song, he was good. I wish he'd played that song though!

And now, the rest of my night shall be spent on the black jumper!

Last day of work!

Woop woop a woop! Uni here I come!

I should probably be getting ready to leave.

I'm knitting though.

Friday 27 July 2007

Misuse of working hours

Wow two posts in one day! Although the one earlier was technically yesterday's post, just I got back too late to write anything and went straight to sleep. So anyway, today I have been at work for the penultimate time! On my break, I went to the library and got the most amazing book. It's called "The Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches", and it's incredible! It has about 900 different stitch patterns, more than half of them are for knitting and they've given me so much inspiration already. I was reading it slyly under the counter and spent the last couple of hours designing a scarf (don't ask me why I wanted to make a scarf in July!), it's really pretty. I'm going to make it out of something soft and dark red I think. Anyway, tonight I'll type up that pattern and then when I've done my jumper I can make a start on that. Or something else, I have too much I want to knit!

Talking of the jumper, it's getting on well. I've finished the waist decreases and now I'm increasing for the bust, it's quite monotonous all being in stocking stitch, but oh well. Then I have to work out how to alter the sleeves to fit and make them, and then it's all ready to sew and block! Ahhh I love finishing things.

I'm not going to Jen's tonight now because she's ill, so I'll be going there probably Sunday instead. Which means knitting tonight! Hopefully I can finish the back and maybe make a start on the sleeves. I won't get much done tomorrow because me and Chrissy are going for a celebratory drink when I finish work, but Matt's busy on Sunday so I might get the sleeves done then. Rrrrright to work!

London Calling

I'm so tired today, got back from London at midnight after getting up at 6am. But oh my god I can't wait to live there! It's such an exciting place, plus my bus went down Oxford Street, and the shops there are about as big as a whole shopping centre here, good stuff! And my uni-to-be gets more gorgeous every time I go....e.g.:

Ahhh it's so pretty! Plus I got to meet some people I'll be there with who were all really nice. We had a look through the windows of the halls, I hope I'm in Willow or Aspen, but if not Garden Court looked nice too. I want the letter to come now telling me where I've got! We also went and had a look in Putney, which was nice too, lots of shops and things. I can't wait to go, less than two months left!

I've got work this afternoon, last shift but one - it's going so slowly! Then when I'm done I get some time off, me and Matt are going to go to Leamington and paint a house as well, we're getting paid £700 which isn't too bad. I can't wait to not have to go to work, it's going to be so nice not having to get up in the mornings any more! And I'm definately ready to do something else now.

Not entirely sure why the first bit of writing is blue incidentally....(edit: it's ok, i fixed it!)

My jumper is getting on well too, I didn't get as much done on the way to London as I wanted because I fell asleep! But I've done about 7 inches of the back, it's looking good. I'll do some more this morning before work, can't do much tonight though because I'm going to Jen's.

It's sunny today! For once! But I have to work, I bet it's raining again by the time I finish on Sunday. Oh well, my jumper will come in useful!

Wednesday 25 July 2007

Almost free....

I have two more days of work, and then my job is over and I have a month to do whatever I like before I start uni! It's really exciting, but unfortunately the shifts I have left are dragging so much - oh well, today was the last delivery day. Tomorrow I'm going to London to look around at uni, which should be good, although it's going to be a bit scary getting there on my own. I'm going to take my jumper with me to knit on the way as it takes about four hours to get there, hopefully I'll manage to finish most of the back and then there'll only be the sleeves left! I'm up to the neckline of the front now, I think I can finish that tonight. I think I'm going to be doing lots of knitting in the next month, I've been having so many ideas for things that I want to make, so I'll have to see if I can design some patterns.

Tuesday 24 July 2007

Dragonfly

I've made a good start on my kind-of-dragonfly sweater! There was a sale in the wool shop, so I managed to get 10 balls of pure wool in black for cheap, so that's what I'm making it with. I've done about 1/3 of the front so far, which I think is good as I only started yesterday! It's going to be really nice and cosy, which might not seem like the ideal project in July, but it's unbelievably cold and wet this year - go England! I hope I can get most of the front done today, it's knitting up quite fast.

I found some more things I want to knit!

Stuff

I got quite far with my wrap cardigan, I did the back and half of one side of the front, but then my mum raided my room and threw away half of the messy scraps of paper I'd written my vague pattern on, so I don't think I'll be able to go on with it now, I can't remember what I did! Anyway, I haven't done any knitting for ages because I've been busy with work and dance exams, but today I'm going to start a new project. There's loads of stuff I want to make, but I'm going to start with a variation on Dragonfly from Knitty.com. I'm not doing it two different yarns and I won't be doing the dragonfly stitch because I just want a plain sweater, but I love the neckline, so that'll be my starting point. So after work today I'm going to the wool shop to find something to make it with, I'd like it in black I think, something nice and soft to keep me warm at uni!

Also, I'm going to start a list of things I want to make, because I always find stuff I love and then lose it. So here goes:

Tubey's done!

Tubey is now finished! I love the sleeves, they turned out really well, not so happy with the body though. It's a bit too baggy and makes me look a lil too chunky! Not really sure it suits my boobs either! Oh well, it's very cosy and warm so I'm going to see what I can do to make it fit a bit better. Considering sewing a gathered ribbon under the bust or knitting a belt to go around the waist at the moment. We'll see. Anyhow, I'll try to take some pictures of it to put up!

Another project is already underway - it's a bottle green wrap cardigan, I have high hopes for it! However I am kind of making it up as I go along so we'll see! I've just cast off the back, it looks really pretty, its knit in a really nice lacy pattern. More news of this soon! And pictures!

Knitty Knitty Knit......

It annoys me how few knitting patterns there are on the internet for things which I can actually see myself wearing. Everything seems to be either shapeless baggy chunky things or things which are supposed to be young and fashionable but.....don't quite make it?! Maybe there are better patterns if you buy them, but being a poor saving-to-be-student that's a bit too extravagant for my budget. Anyhow, I have found one pattern that is quite nice - and thus my current work in progress is Tubey from www.knitty.com. I'm changing it a bit though (never satisfied!), knitting it without the stripes and changing the shaping of the arms. I'm making it in a light grey colour, I don't own a grey jumper so hopefully it'll come out ok! I'm halfway down one sleeve at the moment, seems to be going ok.
